This tutorial will show you how to produce a nice smooth glossy logo which can also be used as a text effect. Only basic knowledge of photoshop is required as it is very easy to follow. You will learn about layer styles & how to apply a gloss effect effectively. A PSD is included with this tutorial.
You will be creating this:
Step 1 – New Document
Create a new document, I chose 1280 x 1024px as I wanted a nice big working space. This is a personal choice, you can choose something more reasonable such as 750 x 400 pixels.Select the Text Tool and type out whatever you want, I chose webmediamag. The font I used is called ‘Poplar Std’, also make sure the text is a nice clean light blue.

Step 2 – Layer Styles
Apply these layer styles to the text layer:
Step 3 – Gloss
Create a new layer above the text layer and select the pen tool, create a path like so:
Now go to the Paths window, right-click on the work path and fill the path with white.
Right-click on the white layer and select Create Clipping Mask. This will only show the white layer where the text is. Set the opacity of the layer to 30%.

Step 4 – Slogan
Create a new layer, make sure the text is white and type your slogan out. The font I used is ‘Segoe Script”.Apply this layer style:

Your logo should now look like this:

Step 5 – Background Color
Create a new layer underneath all the other layers and draw a oval shape around the text with a dark blue:
Now go to Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur

Apply this layer style to the blurred layer:

Finish
